Governor Pritzker Announces Second-Highest Film Production Expenditures in State History

CHICAGO – Governor JB Pritzker joined the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) and Illinois film industry leaders today to announce film production expenditures of $653 million in 2024 – the second-highest expenditure total in state history – along with estimated wages of $351 million and 18,200 estimated hires in the industry (excluding extras). The high expenditures demonstrate Illinois’ ability to bounce back in the wake of the strikes that halted production in 2023.

SPRINGFIELD- Today, Governor JB Pritzker and Illinois Retail Merchant Association (IRMA) President and CEO Rob Karr visited Whimsy Tea Company to discuss the impact of Trump’s Tax on Working Families. The family-run small business in downtown Springfield imports 900 products from 149 countries, many of which will be heavily impacted by the Trump administration’s new tariffs.

SPRINGFIELD—Today Governor JB Pritzker joined British officials at the Illinois State Capitol to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Illinois and the United Kingdom, building on a decades-long trade relationship between the two entities. ROCKFORD- Today, Governor JB Pritzker joined Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) Acting Secretary Gia Biagi and local leaders to celebrate the ongoing construction of the Rockford Mass Transit District (RMTD) expansion project, which strengthens the State’s infrastructure network and improves public transit. The RMTD has been awarded a total of $39.4 million from the Illinois Department of Transportation for this project as part of the Rebuild Illinois Capital Grant Program.
