WEST CHICAGO- Today, Governor JB Pritzker, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) and the Jel Sert Company joined local leaders to cut the ribbon on the company’s West Chicago expansion project. The company invested over $10 million to construct a new manufacturing operation that will enhance production of its popular powdered stick packs and ensure it can meet growing consumer demand. The expansion project will create more than 100 new manufacturing and packing operations jobs while retaining nearly 1,000 existing jobs.

CHICAGO- Today, Governor JB Pritzker announced his appointment of Michele L. Pankow, public safety expert and seasoned fire chief, to serve as the Illinois State Fire Marshal pending senate confirmation. Chief Pankow has spent over 32 years in the Illinois fire service, and will be the first woman to serve as the Illinois State Fire Marshal beginning in mid-July.

As part of Trump and House Republicans’ tax and budget proposal, the top 5% of earners in America would be offered approximately $1.5 trillion in tax breaks, supplemented by large cuts to programs like Medicaid and SNAP.
