LA SALLE – Today, Governor JB Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) announced that Viakable will invest $55 million to expand their manufacturing facilities in La Salle, where the company has been located since 2018. The company’s investment will create 50 new full-time jobs and retain 65 existing full-time positions, reinforcing Viakable’s commitment to growing in Illinois.

This expansion project is a result of Governor Pritzker’s trade mission to Mexico in the spring of 2025, which focused on deepening economic ties and attracting new business investments to Illinois. This expansion demonstrates how the Governor’s efforts to strengthen international business ties are bringing new investment and jobs to Illinois communities.

“I’m proud that Viakable is doubling down on their commitment to Illinois as a key partner in our economic vision and world-class manufacturing ecosystem,” said Governor JB Pritzker. “Investments like this are helping Illinois build an even stronger foundation for long-term, sustainable prosperity that is being felt in communities across the state.”

“Our trade mission made it clear Illinois and Mexico share a deep commitment to sustainable investment in our communities. This manufacturing expansion is a great example of that,” said Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton. “Investing in La Salle gives Viakable access to the best of Illinois — from our world-class infrastructure to an incredible work force.”

Bringing More Production to Illinois

Viakable – a XIGNUX company – is a leading cable manufacturer for the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity. Viakable is expanding its facility by constructing a 22,000-square-foot addition and installing 17 advanced machines at its La Salle plant. The company will upgrade critical utilities, including a new electrical substation, to boost capacity in wire drawing, cabling, extrusion, and packaging. Once the expansion is complete, the La Salle operation is expected to significantly increase its manufacturing capacity for the U.S. electrical infrastructure market.

“This investment reflects our long-term commitment to La Salle, Illinois, and to the future of manufacturing in North America,” said Juan Ignacio Garza Herrera, CEO of XIGNUX. “By strengthening our operation here, we will be better positioned to serve our customers, create quality jobs, and expand our capabilities in the U.S.”

“Over the past eight years, the La Salle team has expanded its capabilities and demonstrated its commitment to our customers,” said Carlos Ramos, CEO of Viakable. “This project will increase our manufacturing capacity and enable us to continue delivering reliable solutions for energy infrastructure in the U.S. and North America.”

“By expanding in La Salle, Viakable is bringing more production to Illinois, creating new opportunities for workers, and reinforcing the region’s role in our state’s manufacturing economy,” said DCEO Director Kristin Richards. “Through our EDGE program, DCEO is proud to support investments like this that grow businesses, create jobs, and position Illinois for continued long-term economic growth.”

Supporting Manufacturing Growth and Jobs

Guided by Illinois’ Economic Growth Plan, Governor Pritzker continues to build the foundation for long-term success by focusing on key growth industries including advanced manufacturing, which is helping attract projects like Viakable’s $55 million investment. This further solidifies the state’s role as a premier destination to locate or expand a business with its top-ranked infrastructure, access to supply chains, and skilled workforce. Viakable joins a growing list of manufacturers that have decided to expand or establish their business in Illinois, including Voortman Steel Machinery, Ability Engineering Technology, Hyundai Translead, and more.

“Continued investment in the Illinois Valley is great news for LaSalle and the hardworking men and women who call this region home,” said State Senator Sue Rezin (R-Morris). “Manufacturing has long been an important part of our local economy, and I am excited to see another local employer choosing to invest, expand, and create opportunities right here in LaSalle.”

With support from the State’s Economic Development for a Growing Economy (EDGE) program, Viakable has committed to creating at least 50 new full-time jobs and retaining 65 employees.

The EDGE agreement with Viakable is available here. So far in 2026, companies participating in the EDGE program have committed to creating nearly 6,000 new jobs and more than $2.6 billion in investments.

“Viakable’s expansion is a powerful example of what can happen when Illinois builds lasting relationships with companies, and we're proud of the confidence Xignux has placed in Illinois,” said Illinois Economic Development Corporation President and CEO Christy George. “This expansion builds on La Salle’s manufacturing strength and demonstrates why Illinois is a premier state for global companies looking to grow in North America.”
