Gov. Pritzker Announces Four Appointments to Boards and Commissions

Building on a strong team of diverse experts in their fields, Governor JB Pritzker announced the following appointments in his administration

Labor Advisory Board

Mark Biel will continue to serve as a Member of the Labor Advisory Board.* Biel currently serves as Chief Executive Officer for the Chemical Industry Council of Illinois (CICI). There, he closely monitors legislative and regulatory activity, with a focus on environmental policy, energy, tax, and tort reform. Previously, Biel served as CICI’s Director of Government Affairs. Before joining CICI, Biel served as Director of Government Affairs for the Illinois Manufacturers' Association. In addition to his leadership role at CICI, Biel also served as Chairman of UnLock Our Jobs, a coalition of businesses and industries committed to keeping the Chicago Area Waterway System open for commercial navigation. Biel earned his Bachelor of Science from Illinois State University and graduated from the Institute of Organization Management at University of Notre Dame.

Beverly Alfon Gordon will serve as a Member of the Labor Advisory Board.* Alfon Gordon is Partner at Amundsen Davis, LLC, where she focuses on labor and employment matters. Previously, Alfon Gordon was Attorney at Baum Sigman Auerbach & Neuman, Ltd., representing unions, advising clients on multiemployer pension plans, and handling trust fund agreements. Alfon Gordon currently serves on the Board of Governors of the Great Lakes Construction Association and the Business Advisory Board of the Illinois Chamber of Commerce. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Political Science from Boston University and her Juris Doctorate from Illinois Institute of Technology’s Chicago-Kent College of Law.

Public Administrators and Public Guardians

Rebecca Cooper will continue to serve as Public Administrator and Public Guardian of Monroe County.* Cooper currently serves as Partner at Cooper, Gilbreth & Doyle Law Offices and owns Randolph County Abstract Title Company. In her legal work, Cooper specializes in corporate governance, compliance, real estate, and probate. Her title company coordinates real estate transactions and researches land titles, easements, and mineral rights. Cooper is active in her community, currently serving on the Board of Directors of the North County Savings Bank, the Red Bud Chamber of Commerce, and the Red Bud Beautification Board. Cooper earned her Bachelor of Science in Economics and Finance from William Woods University and her Juris Doctorate from University of Memphis’ Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law.

Kelly Finet will continue to serve as Public Administrator and Public Guardian of Coles, Douglas, and Piatt Counties.* Finet currently operates Kelly’s Accounting Service, her private accounting firm, in Monticello. Founded in 1988, Finet’s firm provides services ranging from tax management and accounting to financial statements and planning. Finet has significant board and commission experience, serving on the Piatt County Animal Shelter Board, the Monticello Athletic Boosters Board, and her local Rotary Club. Finet earned her Bachelor of Accountancy from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and her Master of Business Administration from Sangamon State University, now University of Illinois Springfield.
