Gov. Pritzker Announces Two Appointments to Agencies
Building on a strong team of diverse experts in their fields, Governor JB Pritzker announced the following appointments in his administration

Illinois Department of Innovation and Technology
Patrick Nolan will serve as Deputy Secretary of the Illinois Department of Innovation and Technology.* Nolan is an operations professional who currently serves as Chief of Staff of the Illinois Department of Central Management Services. In this role, he supports executive coordination for the state’s $8 billion operations agency, helping manage a 400-site real estate portfolio and overseeing HR and labor relations for over 50,000 employees. Additionally, he serves as a commissioner on the state’s Budgeting for Results Commission. Prior to his work in state government, Nolan served as the Director of Analytics at the University of Chicago. Nolan earned a Bachelor of Arts from Loyola University Chicago, a Master of Public Policy from Georgetown University’s McCourt School of Public Policy, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. Nolan’s appointment is effective June 16, 2025.
Christopher Britten will serve as Assistant Secretary of the Illinois Department of Innovation and Technology.* Britten is a customer-first technology executive with over 25 years of experience leading IT strategy, innovation, and service transformation across both the public and private sectors. He has served in the Illinois Department of Innovation and Technology since 2018, most recently as Group Chief Information Officer for the public safety sector, where he aligned IT investments, services, and projects across multiple public safety agencies. Additionally, he is Board President of You Matter 2 and a member of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. Britten earned a Bachelor of Science from Clark Atlanta University and Master of Business Administration from Purdue University. Britten’s appointment is effective as of May 16, 2025.
