Gov. Pritzker Announces Two Appointments to Boards and Commissions

JD Lorton will serve as a Member of the Amusement Ride and Attraction Safety Board.* Lorton currently serves as Director of Operations at Aerie’s Resort, overseeing daily operations of the resort’s amusement rides, attractions, and hospitality services. Previously, Lorton taught at North Mac High School in Virden and served as the school’s Head Football Coach. An elected official, Lorton has served as Village Trustee in Hardin since 2018. Additionally, Lorton currently serves as Chairperson of the Great Rivers and Routes Tourism Bureau Board of Directors, Member of the City of Grafton Tourism Committee, and Member of the Calhoun Jr. Warriors Football Club. Lorton earned his Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Illinois College.

Gov. Pritzker Announces Three Appointments to Boards and Commissions

Lara Shayne will continue to serve as Chair of the Educational Labor Relations Board.* Shayne currently serves as Chair and full-time Member of the Educational Labor Relations Board. Previously, Shayne served as Senior Manager of Labor Relations and General Counsel at the Chicago Board of Education. Earlier in her career, Shayne served as Assistant Corporation Counsel at the City of Chicago Department of Law. In her personal capacity, she previously served as Co-Chair of the Parent’s Association and as Member of the Francis W. Parker School Board of Trustees. Shayne earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from University of Michigan and her Juris Doctorate from Chicago-Kent College of Law.

Gov. Pritzker and IBM Collaborate to Bring 750 New Jobs to the Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park

CHICAGO – Governor JB Pritzker and IBM today announced the company’s new FutureNow Chicago delivery center at the Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park (IQMP). As part of FutureNow Chicago, IBM will create 750 new full-time jobs in AI, cybersecurity, data science, quantum, and more. FutureNow Chicago will serve as an innovation and delivery hub, helping IBM clients and industry partners solve complex, real‑world business and technology challenges while creating clear pathways to careers for local Illinois talent.
