SPRINGFIELD – Governor JB Pritzker today issued a state disaster proclamation following months of severe weather and flooding that caused widespread damage across Illinois. Beginning in March and continuing through June, Illinois experienced record-breaking severe storms, tornadoes, heavy rainfall, flash flooding, hail, and straight-line winds. Illinois has led the nation in tornadoes this year, with approximately 173 tornadoes verified by the National Weather Service (NWS). This proclamation was issued prior to Governor Pritzker’s planned visits to Effingham and Jefferson Counties on Wednesday, July 1.

Gov. Pritzker Signs Legislation Ensuring Illinois Remains Welcoming to LGBTQ+ Community

CHICAGO — Today, Governor JB Pritzker joined legislators and community members ahead of the Chicago Pride Parade to sign into law three bills that will empower more Illinoisans to live authentically and freely, without the fear that their private information will be weaponized against them. These measures prevent out-of-state parties from using medical records stored in Illinois’ prescription monitoring database to punish individuals for receiving lawful, gender-affirming care in Illinois; require insurance companies to cover up to six months of prescribed hormone therapy; and establish in law the process for choosing a gender marker on Illinois IDs and driver’s licenses.

Gov. Pritzker Announces One Appointment to Boards and Commissions

J. Randal Wexler will continue to serve as a Member of the Illinois Finance Authority.* Wexler currently serves as Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary for Van Drunen Farms and FutureCeuticals (VDF),a food ingredient and dietary supplement company. In this role, Wexler leads VDF’s research and development efforts, including a chemistry discovery lab near Chicago. Previously, Wexler served as Partner with global law firm Sidley Austin. There, he managed complex litigation and counseling companies in the food, supplement, and drug sectors. Wexler is a former Board Member of the Chicago Council of Lawyers, an organization focused on pro-bono projects promoting systemic criminal justice reforms. Wexler earned his Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Yale University and his Juris Doctorate from University of Michigan Law School.
