Gov. Pritzker Announces Twelve Appointments to Boards and Commissions

Rikeesha Phelon will serve as a Member of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum Board of Trustees.* Phelon currently serves as Principal Consultant with Phelon Public Strategies and Associate Provost of Strategy, Communications, and Engagement with Southern Illinois University School of Medicine (SIU Medicine). Previously, Phelon served as Executive Director of Marketing, Communications, and Engagement at SIU Medicine and as Press Secretary with the Office of the Illinois Senate President. Active in her community, Phelon currently serves as Commissioner with Illinois Humanities and Trustee with Lincoln Community Hospital. Phelon earned her Bachelor of Arts in Political Studies and Master of Arts in Communications from University of Illinois Springfield.

Gov. Pritzker Pauses New Data Center Tax Incentives 

CHICAGO — Today, following inaction from the Illinois General Assembly, Governor JB Pritzker is directing the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO) to pause processing agreements for the Data Center Investment Program starting July 1. The Governor also outlined a comprehensive framework for Illinois to address the growing impact of data centers on energy affordability and reliability, water resources, and local communities.

Gov. Pritzker Announces Six Appointments to Boards and Commissions

Erik Colón will serve as the Assistant Director of the Illinois Department of Central Management Services.* Colón currently serves as Chief Asset Manager with the Illinois Department of Central Management Services. There, he oversees a portfolio of over 600 State-owned properties and leases, and he serves as the State's senior official on real property strategy. Colón also currently leads Surplus to Success, an initiative repositioning underutilized public land to drive economic development, expand housing, and revitalize communities across Illinois. Previously, Colón served as Managing Deputy Commissioner for Finance and Administration at the Chicago Department of Streets and Sanitation. In this role, he served as the department's chief administrative and financial officer, overseeing a $350 million operating budget and over 2,000 employees. Earlier in his career, Colón served as Assistant Commissioner in the City of Chicago’s Office of the Chief Financial Officer, where he helped manage three of the largest municipal concession agreements in the country, representing over $4 billion in assets. Colón served as Petty Officer Second Class in the United States Navy Reserves. Colón earned his Bachelor of Arts in Public Policy from Northern Illinois University and his Master of Public Administration from DePaul University.
