Gov. Pritzker Announces Safe Routes to School Awards

CHICAGO – Governor JB Pritzker and Illinois Transportation Secretary Gia Biagi today announced $12 million in grants for projects that will help boost the health and safety of children by making walking, biking, and rolling to school safer and more accessible, boosting quality of life throughout the state. The popular Safe Routes to School program is funding 68 proposals by local governments and schools that range from improving neighborhood infrastructure to supporting community educational and safety programs.

Gov. Pritzker Announces $5 Million Investment in Combe’s Rantoul Expansion

RANTOUL – Today, Governor JB Pritzker, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO), the Village of Rantoul, and Combe Incorporated announced new investments in Rantoul. Combe will invest $30 million to expand and retain its manufacturing operations in East Central Illinois, which is supported by a $5 million grant from the State of Illinois.

Gov. Pritzker Announces Two Appointments to Boards and Commissions

JD Lorton will serve as a Member of the Amusement Ride and Attraction Safety Board.* Lorton currently serves as Director of Operations at Aerie’s Resort, overseeing daily operations of the resort’s amusement rides, attractions, and hospitality services. Previously, Lorton taught at North Mac High School in Virden and served as the school’s Head Football Coach. An elected official, Lorton has served as Village Trustee in Hardin since 2018. Additionally, Lorton currently serves as Chairperson of the Great Rivers and Routes Tourism Bureau Board of Directors, Member of the City of Grafton Tourism Committee, and Member of the Calhoun Jr. Warriors Football Club. Lorton earned his Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Illinois College.
