Gov. Pritzker Announces Two Appointments to Boards and Commissions
Building on a strong team of diverse experts in their fields, Governor JB Pritzker announced the following appointments in his administration

Illinois Workforce Innovation Board
Kara Demirjian Huss will continue to serve as a Member of the Illinois Workforce Innovation Board.* Demirjian Huss is a nationally recognized leader in American manufacturing advancement, policy communications, and workforce innovation. As President of DCC Marketing and Senior Vice President of TCCI Manufacturing, she drives initiatives that strengthen U.S. supply chains, support onshoring critical technologies, and expand skilled jobs across the Midwest. A strong advocate for American industrial leadership, Demirjian Huss has guided public-private partnerships that promote domestic manufacturing and regional competitiveness. Demirjian Huss received a Bachelor of Science from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign.
Labor Advisory Board
Sophia Zaman will continue to serve as a Member of the Labor Advisory Board.* Zaman is a community organizer with over a decade of policy experience. She is currently Executive Director of Raise the Floor Alliance. In this role, Zaman serves as the organization’s chief spokesperson and advocate for non-unionized, low-wage workers in Illinois and manages a $2.8 million budget. Previously, Zaman served as President and Vice President of the United States Student Association. She also served as a member of Chicago Desi Youth Rising, co-leading programs that made an impact on many South Asian youths. Zaman received her Bachelor of Arts from University of Massachusetts-Amherst.
