Gov. Pritzker Announces Three Appointments to Boards and Commissions
Building on a strong team of diverse experts in their fields, Governor JB Pritzker announced the following appointments in his administration

Illinois Forensic Science Commission
Caryn Tucker will continue to serve as a Member of the Illinois Forensic Science Commission.* Tucker currently serves as Training Coordinator in Firearms and Toolmarks for the Illinois State Police (ISP), where she is responsible for training and providing continuing education for forensic scientists. Previously, Tucker served as Group Supervisor and Forensic Scientist at ISP. Tucker also previously served as Chair of the National Integrated Ballistic Information Network. Tucker earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Quincy University and her Master of Science in Forensic Science from University of Illinois Chicago.
Illinois Student Assistance Commission
Francisco Velasco will serve as a Member of the Illinois Student Assistance Commission.* Velasco currently serves as Controller of The Joyce Foundation, where he leads financial reporting, audit and tax compliance, budgeting, portfolio operations, and grants accounting. Previously, Velasco was Senior Audit Associate at Klynveld Peat Marwick Goerdeler, providing audit services to higher education institutions, nonprofit organizations, and governmental agencies throughout Illinois. Velasco currently serves as Auxiliary Board Member at the National Mexican Museum of Art, Research Committee Member at the Foundation Financial Officers Group, and Steering Committee Member for Latine philanthropy fund Nuestro Futuro. Velasco earned his Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from DePaul University.
Northeastern Illinois University Board of Trustees
Ann Gariti will serve as a Member of the Northeastern Illinois University Board of Trustees.* Gariti currently serves as Managing Director at professional services firm Aon. There, she creates and develops client-facing teams. Previously, Gariti served as Senior Vice President and Midwest Regional Sales Manager at professional services firm Marsh Risk. Gariti currently serves on the advisory board for First Women’s Bank, and she is part of the Chicago Risk and Insurance Management Society. Gariti earned her Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Northeastern Illinois University.
