Gov. Pritzker Announces Two Appointments to Boards and Commissions
Building on a strong team of diverse experts in their fields, Governor JB Pritzker announced the following appointments in his administration

Illinois Affordable Housing Advisory Commission
Phyllis Mitzen will continue to serve as a Member of the Illinois Affordable Housing Advisory Commission.* Mitzen currently serves as a Consultant and Co-Program Director of the Center of Long-Term Care Reform with the Health and Medicine Policy Research Group. In this role, Mitzen has collaborated with the University of Illinois and organized research on the Determination of Need-Service Cost Maximum Study. Previously, she served as Director of Government Affairs with the Council for Jewish Elderly. Mitzen has been recognized by the National Association of Social Workers, receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award in 2014. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Northeastern Illinois University.
Illinois State Medical Board
Amber Poettker will serve as a Member of the Illinois State Medical Board.* Poettker is a Certified Physician Assistant with 15 years of experience in family medicine and preventative healthcare at Clinton County Rural Health Clinic. She also serves as a Vituity Hospitalist Physician Assistant at St. Joseph’s Hospital. In her current roles, Poettker provides high quality in-person, virtual, and telephonic care. She also trains and mentors newly hired nurse practitioners. Poettker is an active member within the healthcare community and has been recognized for her efforts, receiving the United Hero Award in 2023. She earned a Bachelor of Arts from Saint Louis University, a Master of Medical Science from Saint Louis University, and will receive her Master of Business Administration from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in Spring 2024.
