Gov. Pritzker Announces Two Appointments to Boards and Commissions

Building on a strong team of diverse experts in their fields, Governor JB Pritzker announced the following appointments in his administration

State Board of Health

Susan Swider will continue to serve as a Member of the State Board of Health.* Swider is a Professor in the Department of Community, Systems, and Mental Health Nursing at Rush University in Chicago, where she has practiced in acute care, home health, and public health settings. Her research focuses on program development and evaluation of community health workers, engaging urban communities in health promotion, policy to support health promotion efforts, and educating health professionals in population health. In addition, she co-directed 10 years of Health Resources and Services Administration-supported work to develop an online doctoral program in Advanced Public Health Nursing, and then she directed the Doctor of Nursing Practice track at Rush University for ten years. In 2011, Swider was appointed by President Obama to the Advisory Group on Prevention, Health Promotion, and Integrative and Public Health. In 2016, she was appointed to serve a five-year term on the Community Preventive Services Task Force of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Swider earned a Bachelor of Nursing from DePaul University. Additionally, Swider earned both her Master of Public Health, Community Nursing, and Nursing and her Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing Science from University of Illinois Chicago.

Will County Metropolitan Exposition and Auditorium Authority

Robert Filotto will continue to serve as a Member of the Will County Metropolitan Exposition and Auditorium Authority.* Filotto has served on the Will County Metropolitan Exposition and Auditorium Authority since 2017. In 1999, he founded Filotto Professional Services, an accounting, tax, business valuation, and consulting firm, where he served as Principal until his retirement in 2024. Filotto has served on both the Will County Center for Economic Development Board of Directors and the Will County/Lockport Rotary International Club for the past forty years. In addition, Filotto previously served on numerous area boards, including the Valley View Community School District 365U, the Crisis Line of Will County, and the Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Filotto earned his Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from Lewis University and his Master of Business Administration from University of Chicago.

* Appointments pending confirmation by the Illinois Senate.
