Gov. Pritzker Continues Japan Trade Mission with a Quantum Roundtable
The Governor hosted a roundtable discussion with delegation members in Japan to promote the state’s quantum ecosystem

TOKYO- Today, Governor JB Pritzker continued his trade mission in Japan, engaging in discussions focused on promoting Illinois’ quantum ecosystem, enhancing workforce development in quantum technologies, and attracting quantum-based companies to the state.
The Governor led a quantum roundtable discussion at the University of Tokyo, a recognized leader in quantum computing research in Japan. He was joined by state leaders, including Illinois Senate President Don Harmon, Illinois House Speaker Emanuel “Chris” Welch, Deputy Governor for Education Martin Torres, Deputy Governor for Budget and Economy Andy Manar, and representatives from various corporations, quantum startups, and universities.
During the discussion, Governor Pritzker emphasized Illinois’ commitment to becoming the global capital for quantum computing, highlighting the state’s partnership with PsiQuantum to anchor the newly established Illinois Quantum and Microelectronics Park. Representatives from the University of Illinois, the University of Chicago, and PsiQuantum presented their shared vision for the quantum park. The roundtable provided a valuable opportunity to explore potential collaborations between U.S. and Japanese companies in quantum innovation across various industries.
Tomorrow, the Governor continues his trade mission with meetings focused on clean energy, sustainability, and healthcare.
