…GIVE BACK
On MLK Day Monday, Gov. Pritzker and Lt. Gov. Stratton visited Lindblom Math and Science Academy on Chicago’s South Side. They participated in a community service project with ChiGivesBack, repainting walls in the school and thanking volunteers who were helping.

…WORK
On Tuesday, Gov. Pritzker signed the Dignity in Pay Act into law to empower disabled workers in Illinois. For far too long, people with disabilities could be paid less than the federal minimum wage. This bill eliminates the subminimum wage and enhances and expands employment programs for disabled people, allowing them to contribute their talents to workforce and earn a fair wage.

On Wednesday, Gov. Pritzker was summoned to jury duty at the George N. Leighton Criminal Courthouse. The Governor sat with potential jurors for several hours but ultimately was not selected as a juror. He thanked the hundreds of Illinoisans who fulfill their civic responsibility and those who act as jurors when called to serve.

…START A BUSINESS
Gov. Pritzker and Lt. Gov Stratton announced how the administration will continue to support small businesses owners with new funding opportunities. They revisited a successful business that benefitted from state incentives and announced new funding opportunities for small businesses, including those owned by Black, Brown, and other minority entrepreneurs.

…RAISE A FAMILY
Gov. Pritzker and Lt. Gov. Stratton announced new progress expanding early childhood access for Illinois families. As part of their Smart Start Illinois initiative to eliminate early childhood education desserts for 3- and 4- year olds, Gov. Pritzker shared how his administration is building on his announcement last year that added more than 5,000 spots across Illinois and opened up more pre-k spots for working families.
